香港遙控天文台 ( Hong Kong Remote Telescope )

近年天文同好除了在香港拍攝星空, 還長途拔涉去大陸遠離光害的高山如廣東梅洲拍攝, 有時更遠赳新疆, 台灣, 歐洲和澳洲等地, 慕求找到天空好,
大氣透明度高, 漆黑一遍的理想地點. 但, 往往受制於當日天氣, 天工造美, 否則便空手而回, 不單損失了金錢, 更白白浪費了寶貴的假期.

為了香港天文同好可以不受地域限制, 不受香港天氣影響, 我和一位天文同好商量, 成立一間天文遙控望遠鏡租賃公司, 好讓同好們足不出戶也可以
利用座落於北半球和南半球的望遠鏡拍攝星空.
我們的宗旨是:
(一) 提高天文攝影藝術的層次
(二) 經審核委員會批準, 專業天文學家可免費收集有用數据作科學研究用途

香港遙控天文台由香港天文儀器公司管理.
租用望遠鏡為每月約US$1300至US$2700, 六個月合約, 先交一個月按金, 已交費用恕不退回. 拍攝所得原始資料為租用者所擁有, 用途不受限制.

歡迎香港, 內地和台灣天文愛好者使用, 因為本計劃衹收回成本, 所以暫時不接受外國同好申請.

現時香港遙控天文台, 位於北半球美國新墨西哥洲的望遠鏡有8套, 位於南半球澳洲的望遠鏡有7套, 全部附設CCD 攝影機, 濾鏡, 高穩定腳座 主要為
Paramount ME, 座落於可移動上蓋天文台 ( roll-off observatory ), 和圓頂室 ( dome) 內.

Objective
to promote excellence in the art of astrophotography
to provide services to professional astronomer in collecting useful data for their research free of charge subject to
a successful approval by a panel of judges

Terms & Conditions

1. Rental Arrangement: 6 months Commitment with Contract Signed
2. Payment Terms: Pay non-refundable 6 months in Advance via Paypal plus fees or Bank Transfer without fees
3. Technical Support: Night Fall until Midnight Local Time
4. Each system will be built when a non-refundable one-month deposit is paid (Expect setup, testing and tutorial
time will take about 2 months before the system is to be ready for use)
5. Proposed system configuration may change due to unexpected technical reasons where potential users have the
right to abort and be refunded before starting a new contract
6. Prices are indicative and are subject to change until contract is signed
7. The rights of the raw images will belong to the Science Foundation and the users are free to use their images
without limitation
8. Users are required to give us 2 month notice to quit in writing for better planning for waiting list customers.
9. If the system is down due to system malfunction for over 7 days, we will compensate the down time (But no
compensation below 7 days as well as no compensation for bad weather or high humidity days)
