Revised Coordinates for GR Ori (Nova Ori 1916) February 12, 2013

The coordinates issued with AAVSO Special Notice #334
(http://www.aavso.org/aavso-special-notice-334) were incorrect; they were taken from an article by Robertson et al.
(2000AJ....119.1365R).

The correct coordinates for GR Ori are:

R.A. 05 21 34.98 Dec +01 10 10.2 (2000.0)

The webpage version of AAVSO Special Notice #334 has been updated with these coordinates.

The star marked in Figure 5 of Robertson et al. is GR Ori. That figure is reproduced on the webpage version of this Special Notice (#335, reproduced by permission) to insure that the correct star is observed as GR Ori fades back to its minimum. At magnitude V=23 at minimum, it is extremely faint; it would be easy to observe one of the nearby stars instead of GR Ori.

If you have observed the current outburst of GR Ori and obtained magnitudes or spectra, please make sure you have been observing the correct object. If you have corrections to data you have submitted to the AAVSO International Database and you are not able to make them yourself, please contact AAVSO Headquarters.
