Nova Cephei 2013 = PNV J23080471+6046521 February 2, 2013

A nova in Cepheus has been reported, confirmed, and confirmed as a nova spectroscopically. An AAVSO Alert Notice will follow after an official announcement from the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams, but basic information is given here for immediate reference.

Nova Cep 2013 was discovered by Koichi Nishiyama (Kurume, Japan) and Fujio Kabashima (Miyaki, Japan) at unfiltered CCD magnitude
10.3 on images taken 2013 Feb. 02.4119 UT. It was confirmed as a new object by the discoverers, posted to the CBAT TOCP and assigned the name PNV J23080471+6046521, and confirmed as a new object by several other observers. It was subsequently confirmed as a nova by K. Imamura and colleagues (reported via vsnet-alert), whose low-resolution spectra taken February 2.526 UT at the Okayama University of Science observatory show Nova Cep 2013 to be a Fe II class classical nova.

The discoverers report additional unfiltered observations of the
nova: Jan 23.411, <13.6; 26.401 UT, <13.6; 28.412, 11.9; 30.413, 11.0.
