IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(29943) 1999 JZ78 / TYC 6853-00598-1 event on 2011 Aug 15, 12:57 UT
Visible from China, SE Asia
Summary
-------
On 2011 Aug 15 UT, the 28 km diameter asteroid (29943) 1999 JZ78 will occult a
10.4 mag star in the constellation Sagittarius for observers along a path across
China, SE Asia.
In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star
will drop by 5.8 mag to 16.2 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 5.7
seconds.
This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly
provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys),
and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
