Vixen SXD Starbook alignment procedure - from LT

Hi Funnooo and other SXD users,

Hope the following alignment procedures for Star Book helpful to you.

1. Check the data input of date, time, location (for HK, 114*7' & N22*21' approximately) and time zone (+8) are correct in your SXD Star Book.
2. The mount in RA mode (Equatorial mount mode)

If the above incorrect, re-enter again. Make sure the system is well balanced in both RA and Dec axes.

3. Unlock RA lock and Dec lock both. Then hand slew the telescope with the objective pointing towards west with the markings aligned on both axis as precise as possible.

4. Turn on SXD mount and then Star Book will boot up in about 30 seconds.

5. Follow the pages shown by select OK or Confirm to step into the Chart mode.

6. Once #5 completed, Star Book will go into Scope mode.

7. Press "Select" once to change for Chart mode

8. Select Star from the star map displayed on the screen or just from "Object". Of course wish you have known the names of some bright stars in the western sky.

9. Once you move the cursor to the target star for alignment or by selecting the star name from the "Object" ==> Star menu.

10. If by moving the cursor, press the motor speed button to zoom in the position of the target star for better pointing accuracy.

11. Once #10 completed, press "Goto" (i.e. the Select button). Then the mount will automatically goto the position of the target star.

12. Look through the finder and press the direction key for position re-adjustment. Then look through main telescope (about 100x) for more finer position re-adjustment.

13. Then press "Align" button once and then "yes" to complete 1st star alignment. Once confirmed, "1st align" sign will be displayed on screen.

14. Press "select" once to change star book into chart mode again.

15. look for 2nd star (at least 10 degrees from the 1st star) from the star map displaced on the screen or by "object" menu with procedures similar to the 1st star.

16. Once re-adjust the position of the 2nd star, press "Align" to confirm the 2nd star alignment. Then "2 align" sign displayed on screen.

17. Do similar procedures for the 3rd star alignment. At this time the pointing accuracy will become better and better. In most cases, the objects can be within the 100x field of view if they are located in the same western sky.

18. The more the star aligned (maybe up to 9 as max.), the better the accuracy the scope points to.

19. If goto the eastern sky, better to re-do the alignment by selecting 3 stars in the eastern sky.

我這個超蠢蛋, 被 SXD 玩了我很久. 最後發現了問題其實很簡單, 基本是自己問題:

昨晚終於對好極軸, 但跟著有點問題.
找尋第一粒星時, 粒星有少許 offset, 於是用 starbook 移正位置. 跟著按 align 鍵. 按理應該 starbook 自動 adjust 星圖對正 object, 但結果是對錯其他星,或是對了其他空白位置. 請問為何這樣?

另如果對了空白位置或對錯其他星, 可否取消那個 alignment? 沒有理由從頭開機, 從新對過 alignment! Twisted Evil

補充一下先：
1. 先用 chart mode 選星
2. Goto
3. Check 目標
4. adjust 目標置中
5. set alignment
6. 按理應該 starbook 自動 adjust 星圖對正 object, 但結果是對錯其他星,或是對了其他空白位置.

根據我自己研究, 原來在第四步驟adjust 目標置中時, 千萬不要誤按入去 chart mode , 要 keep 在 scope mode 內去調整. 否則當 set alignment 時就會"走了位".

2. Vixen SXD 移動出現跳下跳下現象:
發現此情況很久, 一直解決不了. 直至昨晚拆開 SXD 檢查 Worm 及 Gear, 都沒有問題. 直到最後發現了原來 Starbook 內, chart 我 set 了 alt-az mode. 當去任何 object, 只要按一鍵, SXD 就會像 alt-az 一樣兩軸同調而行 z 路軌跡而行, 因而產生跳下跳下現象. 只要轉 eq mode 就解決了此問題.
