長咀露營

這個聖誕去了長咀露營, 從鑽石山地鐵站搭巴士往黃石碼頭, 轉船往赤徑, 再步行了五小時, 由赤徑上吹風坳, 過蚺蛇坳到長咀, 已經許多年沒試過這麼負重行山, 好辛苦, 但那裡的風景很美, 確是值得的.

其實我想問，帶咁多野，點解唔坐車去吹風坳才起步？

回程的時候我們也考慮過, 經東灣, 大灣, 鹹田灣, 西灣, 由吹風坳走, 但怕不夠時間, 最後都係由東灣過大灣村, 回赤徑, 搭快船返黃石碼頭.

其實我只是跟朋友去, 也不知那一條路線較快. 不如下次你帶隊再去, 由吹風坳起步, 我就一定帶埋TGSP.

最快的方法是乘船去高流灣,經蚺蛇坳(行右手面的落山小徑)落長咀

For star gazing/photography, is the sky condition in 長咀 better than East Dam? Any chance of chartering a boat from 黃石碼頭 to 長咀? Thx!

Many years ago I did had the same idea but what's left today I'm afraid is the East to Southeast direction where might provide better star gazing condition-given there's no fishing boats cruising around with their flood lights.

我沒有到過東壩觀星, 所以不能和長咀比較, 但在長咀觀星的環境也不錯, 東面向海, 沒有光源, 只有間中往來的船燈, 南面和西面是山, 沒有近的光源, 山後有光卻不嚴重, 唯獨北邊, 面向南澳, 燈火通明, 不過距離也很遠.

我和朋友們躺卧在地上, 仰望繁星滿天, 聽著浪濤拍岸, 非常舒服, 已經忘了長途跋涉的疲累.

我聽聞黃石碼頭有快艇(大飛)去長咀, 不過長咀沒有碼頭, 要在石灘登陸, 頗危險啊!

Thanks for the info and photos! I have passed 長咀 a few times during the day while I did the CareAction walks. But everytime I was in such a hurry, haven't really had time to even take a closer look. Its a beautiful place in deed!

I am attempting to do CCD imaging again. Just got a EM-200, then realise my bird photo gears are really light!! Also started to realise that perhaps the only thing I can do at my rooftop are narrow band imaging... Lugging all those gears to a dark site must a horrendous task.

I do have the interest to take a hike and re-visit the site, back in 1984 this was the place where a friend of mine did make the first met with his wife when we camp there.

Back to 1990, you could hire a "boat" at Wong Sek Pier, Tap Mun or Kau Lau Wan to get there (長咀). But now, I am not sure. I think it is best to call for "delivering service" at Tap Mun because there are many fishmen there.

In Sai Kung, I would agree that 長咀 is the best place for astronomy if less light pollution is your concern. But for transportation, one of the worst one. That is very enjoyable to have a hiking to there either from Chek King or Sai Wan, depending on your physical condition. However, you can only bring with light gear for astronomy if you want to do astronomy there. Moreover, it may be windy there.

Just my 2 cents to you if you have interest to go there for astronomy or camping.
