stacking 800 frames at 1/1600 sec.
Camera :- DMK-41AU
Picture : North is up, East at left.

Depends on how much your magnification is. Normally at around 120X the image is still very sharp, assumiong you are using Herschel wedge.

If you are using other methods then I am not sure.

Stop the motor, sun will drift west. If your telescope has a diagonal, then count ESWN clockwise. If not count ESWN anticlockwise.

Drifting method cannot determine direction of the sun or planets.

A simpler method:
Move the telescope east-ward, the Sun will move in the FOV, the leading limb is the west.
Then move the telescope northward, the leading limb will be south.
