Yes, 2 separated photos were used for the disk and rim. You can see the prominence and disk details only in H-alpha solar telescopes, which allows only H-alpha wavelength to come through.Skyobs 寫:Wow!
By the way, is 20090117sun.jpg a stack of central disk photo and outer rim photo? Does it mean the prominence is usually not visible to the eye even in solar telescope?
With my LS60T, the prominence is slightly dimmer than what I show in this picture, but still easily visible to the eye.
I've processed another animation taken a few days ago, but it is not as dramatic as the one shown above.Skyobs 寫:Thanks for the info and sharing of pictures, especially the animation. Prominence is the fastest changing thing in space that have a higher chance to be observed.
So the rather dramatic animation above was caught by sheer luck that I was shooting at the right time.
