You must organize a day guided tour to your high tech observatory!!! It is impressive!!!

Aiming high but reaching low.

After 2-min unguided exposure of NGC3628 on Wed 06-03-12, I could manage some 5-min autoguides with PHD guiding on M51 even though Lodestars' star was extremely blurry/out-focused.

After consulting with experienced astrofarmer yesterday afternoon, I realize that my goto routine was too simple and sometimes naive, since I could not use plate solve to center the imaging scope.

The T-Point mapping previously done and EQ6Pro's goto is still rubblish. I wasted the whole night last night but could not center my DSO.

I have to disemble and revise/re-engage the whole gears again.

Any person has a good suggestion for a very sensitive/sense-up version of Network Cam (no IR LEDs but fast frame of about 5-10 fps) which can enable me to see in near darkness as surveillence cam in the observatory ?

Both my Sony PoE Netwok Cam and Logitech wed cam see nothing at night.

The danger of the rear of the scope hitting the mount is always a risk, but I have no way to check during remote operation.

why don't you change to a better EQ mount?

Still checking whether it is my fault or the fault of EQ6 Pro in go-to accuracy.

Turned out to be my fault in goto (not the mount's fault), since I made error in establing the 1st T-Point model that there were 2 large groups of marked stars clusters that the T-Point model was as high as 900 arc sec. No wonder its go-to was way off.

Tonight I deleted this erroneous T-Point model and start from scratch. The go-to is normal again with T-Point model circle within 25-60 arcsec accuracy.

Goto problem should have been solved.

Looking forward for
(1) Imaging works after you fixed the goto
(2) A tour to your observatory! :D

BTW, how heavy a load can EQ6Pro handle, my ZWA254/F4 is torturing my GPD2....

Just solve the goto now by throwing away the old T-Point model since the old mapping run was wrong.
Now goto is near spot on with acceptable polar alignment of 0.2 arc min in AZ and 8.2 arc min too low.

Loading of EQ6Pro is similar to EM200, about 20kg or 45lb, but the torque or total length of the scope must be short. For my TEC140F7, about 1 metre long.

Newtonian may be too long and producing torque at both ends.

My Newtonian is a 10 in. F4, just 3 feet in length... you think EQ6Pro can handle it for long DSO exposure ?

My TEC140 is also 22lb but I add scope cover, AO, heavy 7x48mm filter wheel, plus micro mount + ST402 & camera lens. Total weight should be over 35lb plus.

Thus, your 20lb odd Newtonian should be ok even if imaging setup is added.

No problem at all for visual use.

Thank you very much for your detailed analysis. My scope won't be carrying a lot of imaging stuff... at most a guider and a much lighter filterwheel for imaging using the ZWO cam...
Yeah... after gathering all advices...I think EQ6Pro is the best option.... then I have to think of how to deal with the GPD2...don't think it's a good idea to hold on to so many mounts...

Lucky this week with almost 7 clear nights from Monday to Sunday.

Goto was frustrated on Tue 05-03 but was solved on Wed 06-03. Then, able to collect 5 consecutive days of photos from Wed up to Sun nights.

Already gathered 3.8hrs of L frames for NGC3628 and 6.5hrs of L frames for M51. RGB & Ha for M51 to be done later.

Very pleased with this kind of efficiency for imaging session up to 2.30 am odd each night. No need for all night through.

With automated imaging software (wish list in the future), the efficiency of photo quantum could further be extended.
Cool !
