14 inch telescope and Jupiter SEB

Dear ATMers,

Recently a prolong test on the 14 inch telescope has been carried out and, accidentally, something wonderful is happening on Jupiter.

Following the SEB outburst and when everybody thinks that Jupiter finally quiet down something more exotic has taken start.

When I used the 14 inch Newtonian last night (30 Nov ) to observe Jupiter, at moment of momentarily steady seeing, suddenly, a very pale belt appeared on the southern hemisphere of the Jovian surface and it seemed to me that the vanished southern equatorial belt (SEB ) started to reappear again.

In order to proof I am not imagining I decided to take a picture. The picture shows a belt starts to run on the southern hemisphere, confirming my observation.

I belief that within months the SEB will reappear again.

Picture details :-

Telescope :- 14 inch f/5 Newtonian.

Mount :- Dobsonian design with JMI TNT-12 tracking motors.

Shooting :- shot with DMK21AU04 B/W Webcam + TeleVue 3X barlow giving a total ratio of f/15. Exposure time was 1/92 sec with 60 fps.1000 pictures were stacked by and processed by Registax 5. No further image process was applied.

Place and time : Causeway Bay, at 19:55 local time.

Transparency :- 3/10, very poor.

Stability :- 4/10 , poor.

Sorry that the picture is in black and white. The camera is not a color one and I lack the LRBG filters. ( and the skills )

If you have time I advice you to take a look at Jupiter, you won’t regret it.
