天文物理研討會
日期: 六月二十一日 (星期六)
地點: 香港中文大學,潤昌堂,104室 (本部邵逸夫堂旁, 校巴第二站, see bottom for the map)
時間:
1 pm - 3 pm (Introduction to Quantum Theory)
3 pm - 5 pm (天體物理中的量子世界)
5 pm - 6 pm (Extended discussion time (optional) )
6 pm - ? (dinner + stargazing)
語言: 廣東話 (英文輔助)
講者: quantumkit
形式: 兩小時為一節, 首45min為講座, 之後為討論時間。講者亦會準備一些問題引起討論。
今次活動由我quantumkit負責, 中大天文學會幫手, 所以程序以致講者會跟原本五月天文物理研討會都會有唔同.

講者簡介: quantumkit 畢業於中大物理, 現於美國加州大學聖地牙哥攻讀物理學博士,主要研究天體物理, 同時亦擔任天文科助教。
About extended discussion time:
Depending on audience's interest, I can also introduce some interesting research currently in academic community, e.g. computer simulation of stars, galaxies and even universe etc. Basically it is for us to discuss anything related to astronomy.

我正在找一些研究生朋友做speakers, 可以有一手資料ma...
其實有幾類人仕我特別歡迎:
1. 中學生, 尤其係想第時讀上去, 做天文/物理博士/教授/研究員之類(或都大學想讀物理 etc)...雖然我未學成師, 但我都想俾下idea/suggestion大家
2. 一些接觸天文已有一斷日子的朋友: m...我都唔知點講好, 總之就學海無涯la..
舉例我黎到美國先知道流體力學o既重要性, 由星震, 太陽風, 大紅班, 吸積盤(原恆星/類星體), 超新星爆發, spiral galaxy 結構形成, 至到宇宙超大結構(large scale structure) 等等都要用到...
所以lei...即使係剛剛接觸天文也好, 對天文有一定認識o既同好也好,黎研討會交流下一定有好處=)

May be it is because many secondary school students are still having exam, or may be it is because the talk seems to want to please both complete beginners and also those with some knowledge. Unless the speakers are really excellent, it is difficult to see how this can be done successfully.
Or may be it is also because in fact very few students know about quantum mechanics apart from the very bright and enthusiastic students.
I've tried 4 1-hour talks on quantum mechanics as extra curriculum activity. Out of 1000 students in school, only about 20 came. Luckily, almost all attended the whole series (My disastrous relativity series: 60 people came to the first talk, only 20 came to the 5th one )
Anyway, wish you all the best!

個人對此活動有點興趣,但只怕對於一個中四且物理知識淺薄的我而言,可能只可作聆聽者,做不了討論者
